Your boasting is not good Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough? I Corinthians 5:6
The church of Corinth had a poison in their congregation. Gross immorality was among them, and they weren’t doing anything about it. Perhaps they were boasting that they were spiritually mature enough to put up with such sin. Maybe they were rationalizing that things would get better or go away. Just maybe they were proud that they were broad minded enough to accept such sins. The apostle Paul told them the boasting was not good, and reminded them that lack of discipline would bring them all down. He reminded them that Jesus is the leaven for the church, not sin. May we be single minded in our obedience to God, not broadminded. One bad apple really will spoil the whole bunch.
