Grace for your spirit

Your riches have rotten and your garments have become moth-eaten. Your gold and your silver have rusted; and their rust will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is in the last days that you have stored up your treasure. James 5:2-3

Jesus warned us that we should lay up our treasures in heaven. Many will do anything to build up riches only to see them rot and fade away. We hide our money in the ground and it rusts. We put our riches clothing, and the moths get to them. We understand that principle, until we get some of those riches in front of us and we tend to forget. As we learn to worship the "green calf", we will cheat, beg, borrow, or steal, to keep on accumulating. This is not the path a Christian should ever be on. If we choose that life, our riches will fade, and our relationship with God and people will fail. That is not the witness we want when we stand before God. Let's quit worshiping the green, and return to the Lord. He will give us all a happy new year.

Grace for your spirit
For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it. Hebrews 2:1

A tour boat on a peaceful lake had its engine die. The boat began drifting toward a dangerous waterfall. The passengers didn't notice it, but they were in trouble. The captain guided the boat into shallow water and blew a hole in the boat, sinking it. A rescue following and a disaster was averted. When we see others who are drifting away from the safety of God and our brethren, often they don't notice it and are content. Danger is near. Pray that someone will sink their pleasure boat, so they can be rescued. How about us? Are we drifting toward danger?

Now when these things had been complete, the princes approached me, saying, "The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, according to their abominations.....Ezra 9:1

Ezra had a big job on his hands. He was trying to restore spiritual life among those who had just returned from Babylonian captivity. Ezra needed those in leadership roles to be good examples. Their captivity had been caused by their sinful intermingling with worldly people. With the right kind of teaching, positive role models, and perseverance the victory could be won. This news about those who should be spiritual leaders was a extreme disappointment. We certainly have a big job on our hands today too. It is difficult to restore spiritual strength in people, and when our leaders quit, the people perish. Let's encourage our leaders and elders to be faithful. May we hold up their hands and follow them to victory.

Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine within your house, your children like olive plants around your table. Behold for thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord. Psalm 128:3-4

One of the gifts on feast days was a trip with family to the temple. A man was blessed with his time with family and the Lord. I hope and pray for each of you that you will have a loving family that enjoys spending time together. It is truly a blessing from God. At this Christmas season, we are certainly blessed when can have the warmth of our family about us. May God fill your stocking with an extra portion of grace for your spirit this year. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

And Mary said, "Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may be it be done to me according to your word." And they angel departed from her. Luke 1:38

Mary and Joseph were presented with an incredible plan from God. They were assured that the Lord found favor in them and they received the promise that He would be with them. The details were not a problem for either one of them. The trusted that the Lord would make it all work for good. To bring the Son of God into the world, and raise Him for His mission, was a incredible challenge. Nothing they were going to experience had ever happened before, and it was not a problem for them. We all need to follow in the faith of our forefathers. When we are presented with an incredible opportunity to serve the Lord, may we trust in Him to work out the details. Someone's salvation may be at stake.

But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you one will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity. Micah 5:2

Often a stranger will tell us that they are just passing through. When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, Mary and Joseph were from Nazareth, and they were just passing through for the census. Jesus was just passing through too. He was coming from His home in heaven, from the Godhead. He was from the days of eternity. He would pass through Bethlehem and all of Israel on His trip back to the right hand of His Father. Jesus is not a story from the manger to the cross. His story is from before time began and continues forever. Really, this world is not our home either. We are just passing through too. Jesus would like to meet us all in heaven someday. Let's not disappoint Him.

No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. l have the authority to lay it down, and I have the authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father. John 10:18

In this passage Jesus is comparing Himself to a shepherd. A shepherd leads, feeds, and protects their flocks. They will lay down their own lives to defend the fold. Jesus is the good shepherd of His flock. Jesus did exactly that when He willingly went to the cross and died for all our sins. He then rose from the dead, as He promised. Most people think Jesus was killed on the cross by the Romans. That is not true. Jesus chose to sacrifice His life willingly on a cross. He chose, He gave up His spirit, and He arose from the grave. That makes Him our eternal good shepherd.

But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king's choice food or with the wine which he drank. Daniel 1:8

As a captive in Babylon, Daniel and his friends would face many challenges against their Godly upbringing. They would be challenged with food laws, language, literature, worship, and even a change of their names. Rather than fortifying themselves to face these challenges, they could have spent their time thinking up excuses for why they couldn't be faithful to God. They were young, they were captives far from home, they could be punished severely, and they could miss great opportunities as future leaders. They decided to do what was right instead. When we are faced with challenges, do we spend our effort thinking of good reasons why we can't comply, or do we begin practicing ways to be faithful to God. God gave them victory for their commitment. What does He have for us?

The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:9

Some of us attend church services for years with very little positive results. We receive instructions by learning, hearing, and seeing, but apply very little to life. The Bible tells we must practice what we learn in order to have great results. I am a genius when it comes to diet plans. I have been on every diet program under the sun. I know calories, carbs, what every food contains. I know what to eat and what to avoid. As smart as I am, I should weigh 100 lbs. but i over overweight. Why? My application and practice is lacking. Is our spiritual application and practice lacking? Let's get back into the Word, and show God what we can accomplish with Him

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him. I John 5:1
Christianity is a package deal. When we become believers in Jesus Christ, we are believers in God, and love all the things of God. Central in the things of God are His children. His children make up the body of Christ, the church, those we worship with every week. We do not have the option to love God, and not love the children born of Him. Ever heard that song, "Walkin' with brethren in heaven on the streets of gold, won't that be glory. But puttin' up with them here, well that's another story"? When we don't love the child born of God, it may be our clue that our love for our Father is falling short too.

For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!" The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God
Romans 8:15-16

Through Jesus Christ we are released from the slavery of sin. Now we are free to be adopted by God and be His true child. With Jesus as our Savior and God as our Father, His spirit touches our spirit to give us assurance that we are His children. Our relationship is now close enough to use the intimate name reserved only for His children. Abba! Father! Living in the house of Abba, we have all the rights and privileges of our Dad's inheritance. Let's walk with our head held high. We are children of the King.

For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. James 2:26

We are saved by grace though faith in Christ Jesus. We do nothing to earn that salvation, but the proof that it has taken place is the works we do and the way we live. We are created in Christ Jesus for good works. He has works planned for us, and we need to yield to His direction. Yielding to Him is the proof that faith is alive in us. Abraham was made right by faith, and when God called him to exercise that faith, his obedience was the proof that his faith was alive. Our physical body is nothing without our spirit, and our faith is nothing if it doesn't produce good works for God.

Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' And then I will declare to them, I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness. Matthew 7:22--23

It is not just saying Lord, Lord that will get us into Christ's kingdom, but doing the will of His Father. Everything about the will of the Father is centered around the cross of Christ. If we do not yield the resurrected Christ, we will never do the will of the Father no matter how much work we do. Without the blood of Christ, we are all directive and no dynamic. We may know what to do, but don't have the power to perform. We may be filled with action, but our attitude is centered in us, not God's will. There is not enough work to be known by God. We must be born into His family by the water and the Spirit. As; His children, the work will follow.

See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled. Hebrews 12:15

All Christians are given the challenge to run the race set before us, and to help others stay in the race as well. Instilling the grace of God in our brethren will cover and avoid a multitude of sins. Grace not only saves, but grace equips us to overcome our sinful nature. God's grace fills us with the fruits of the Spirit, and is the best preventative against raising bitterness in hearts. Anger and bitterness can defile us and cause us to stumble. Helping is our calling, and we need to see to it.

And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. I Corinthians 12:26

When God wanted us to know how the spiritual body is supposed to function, He used an example with which we can all identify; our human bodies. All parts of our body is connected to our head, the brains of the operation. When even the smallest part suffers, we hurt all over. If you have ever hit your little toe on a table, or threw your back out, you know what I mean. When we are about to fall on our face, our hands instinctively help break our fall. The hands don't say, "we will pray about it and get back to you." Spiritually we all need to be connected to our head, which is Jesus. Rejoicing is always more fun than suffering, so let's be prepared to work together with our head.

For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. II Timothy 1:6-7

When a fire begins to diminish, and we want to get the fire going again quickly, we throw on some kindling wood. It catches quickly and keeps the fire going for the big logs. God has given us His gift of the Holy Spirit, and we all need it to be effective in our Christian walk. Have we check our fire lately? If we are becoming a little timid, our power to overcome, our love for others, and our discipline to do what is right has been weak lately, it is time to check the fire. Yes our fire needs attention. Let's rekindle it now before it goes out completely. We all have an manual of instructions to do that. It is the Bible.

For while I was passing through and examining the objects of your worship, I also found an alter with this inscription, 'TO AN UNKNOWN GOD' Therefore what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. Acts 17:23

When Paul came to Athens, he was bombarded with idolatry. There was a building and monument for every idol under the sun, and one for anyone they might have missed. When Paul taught about the true God of heaven, he wanted to make sure they knew God was not an add-on God. We cannot add on God to our other gods. When we come to truly know Him, we will discover that all those other gods, are no gods at all. The only monument we need is Him in our hearts.

Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Submission to God is humble obedience to His will. When we do just what we want to do, that is not submission. When we do the things we don't want to do, because it pleases God, we have learned to walk in submission. It is then that we defeat the devil and he will flee from us. It is not easy to be faithful, available, and teachable. It is the tendency of man to go our own way. When we learn to humbly submit to God, it is excellent preparation to submit to everyone else. There are no limitations on that direction from God. Submission to all is one of the true marks of being His disciple.

Ishmael was a son of Abraham, and Isaac was the son of Abraham. Ishmael's family would be the Arabs. Isaac's family would be the Jews. They have been at odds with each other for 4,000 years. Jesus came to tear down the walls and create one new race; the Christian race. Jesus died for everyone, yet those on both sides that reject Him are still rebuilding those walls. May we all put down our wall building materials and convert them into bridge building. The bridge that leads to the blood of Jesus.

Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was being provoked within him, as he was observing the city full of idols. Acts17:16

Paul found himself in Athens Greece, the center of world learning. Like many philosophers, they found a god in everything. They worshiped the gods of mythology, and built temples for them. This attitude about the true God of Heaven provoked Paul. It irritated him and drove him to powerful preaching about the one true God. Some liked his preaching, some did not, but he preached against idolatry with vigor. How does a world full of idols affect us? Are we provoked to teaching or just apathetic? Christians need to fight apathy first, and then false gods with all our heart.

But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." I Samuel 16:7

When Samuel was out to select the future king of Israel, they almost overlooked David because didn't fit the mold they had in mind. King Saul had been a big warrior, and David was a short shepherd boy. God was looking at the heart. Today, if we would spend the time, effort, and money on our "heart appearance", that we spend on our hip and lip, we would look a whole lot better to God. Also we would be better equipped to serve Him.

Grace for your spirit.
Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. Galatians 6:9

Doing good for others is not our personal vending machine for good stuff. We don't insert good deed, then yell and kick the machine if we don't get our prize. The true doing of good is a result of God working in our lives. We shouldn't lose heart in doing good, because we already have our reward. When we are committed do good without the bargain of additional rewards, we won't lose heart, and we will not grow weary. We need to be thinking about others, then God will richly bless our lives of service and sacrifice.

The one who guards his mouth preserves his life. The one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. Proverbs 13:3

When I was in elementary school, I stuttered badly. Nothing helped, but one day it just went away. Somebody told me that my mind was working faster than my mouth. That's funny because now I seem to have the opposite problem. Often my mouth moves faster than my mind. It might take a muzzle, it might take a sock, but let's find a way to guard our mouth until our brain is working. It may keep us from ruin and preserve our life. Certainly it will bring glory to God for our lives.

And He did not let him, but He said to him, "Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you." And he went away and began to proclaim in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed. Mark 5:19-20

After Jesus had healed the demon possessed man, he came back to thank Jesus and go with Him. Jesus told him he could thank Him in a more meaningful way by going home and spreading the good news of what great things Jesus had done. Being thankful to God is a two way street. First we need to return to Him and express our gratitude, then we need to go spread our thankfulness to those who need Him. This Thanksgiving weekend, if we are blessed with the opportunity to go home and gather with loved ones, keep this story in mind. Let's go home and and report what great things the Lord has done for us. Have a happy thanksgiving.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

In this direction to a peace free from anxiety, note the place of being thankful. The thanksgiving goes with the prayer. Too many times we pray, and then if we get what we want, we might be thankful. That plan not only extends anxiety, if often is not a cure at all. The prayer of faith is the prayer of success. Let's find our peace with God, believing that He will meet our requests before we ask and receive. Let His answer be the right answer for us. There is the peace.

Then Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine--where are they? Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?" Luke 17:17-18

One day Jesus healed ten men of a dreaded terminal disease called leprosy. One of them was a Samaritan and the other nine were of Judea. Why do suppose the foreigner was the only one that thought to say thank you? Could it be that the other nine felt like they had the healing coming because of who they were? When we receive a wonderful gift from above, do we have the attitude of gratitude, or the feeling that it is too little, too late? We need to humble ourselves before our mighty God. When we do, we will be filled with thanks. In everything, give thanks, for this is the will of God.

Then Peter said to Him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed You; what then will there be for us?" Matthew 19:27

Peter's weak faith apparently needed a refresher course. He was so busy following and working for Jesus, the promises of Jesus must have slipped his mind. Jesus didn't rebuke him. He reminded Peter that he would have dominion in the kingdom, a hundred times more in this life than anything he had given up, plus eternal life. Sometimes we need to take another look at scripture to remind us of God's promises. Unless we keep the promises of God clearly in mind, we might just get discouraged and quit. Do we need a refresher course?

They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them Your servant is warned; In keeping them there is great reward. Psalm 19:10-11

What can be priceless and worthless at the same time? The answer is an unused Bible. God's Word is more valuable than gold. God's Word is sweeter than honey. God's Word as a source of great reward=priceless. God's Word not read, not followed=worthless. The Bible is still the number one selling book in the world, but unless it is read and followed it looses its value. Let's search the scripture. There is gold in those pages.

For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another;not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother's were righteous. I Jn 3:11-12

Why did Cain kill his brother? Why couldn't he master the sin that was crouching at his door? Now in First John, God explains it to us. Cain did not love his brother. Cain was of the evil one, the devil, and that made his deeds evil rather than righteous. We may think we aren't capable of doing anything like Cain did, but watch out. When the devil gets hold of us, we can lose our love, and evil can take over our lives. Guard against any such takeover by staying close to the Lord.

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Eph 4:29

What did your mother always tell you? "If you can't think of something nice to say, don't say anything at all." This takes it a little bit farther. Now, think of something nice to say, Something that will build up those who hear us. Something that meets the need right at that moment and will fill others hearts with grace. And let's not limit that kind of talk just at certain times, like when the preacher is nearby. Let's make it a permanent lifestyle. Jesus is always nearby.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. I Thessalonians 4:13

It is healthy for the Christian to grieve, but we should never do it in the same way as those who have no hope of eternal life. The good news of this passage is that those who have died in Christ, will be raised in the last day and be with the Lord forever. Our loved ones have just separated their bodies and their spirits for a while. They are even now, enjoying the blessings of the Lord. We often comment that we have lost a loved one when they die. Actually if we know where they are, we really haven't lost them. Don't be uninformed. Rejoice in the Lord.

If we do not rejoice and be glad, it is unlikely that we will enjoy the day, and more unlikely that we will praise Him for our gift. It is not a matter of what happens to us today. And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed." Genesis 12:3

This was the promise given to Abraham over 4,000 years ago. It was the beginning of a family line that would bring Jesus to the earth to redeem us. For most of those 4,000 years there has been an argument on whose family God was talking about. Did we miss the word ALL. The promise was for all the families of the earth. Redemption in Jesus is for all. It's not a Jew/Greek thing. It's not an east/west thing. It has no national or ethnic boundaries. Let's not be building walls, where God has built a bridge.

Yet now I urge you to keep up your courage, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. Acts 27:22

The Apostle Paul was a prisoner on the way to Rome sailing with 275 other men, and the voyage had been awful. The storms threatened to sink the ship and everyone had given up hope of survival. Paul was told by an angel that they would all make it safely if they stayed on the ship. They all survived the trip. We travel in stormy waters in the ship of God. God promises if we don't give up the ship, we will all survive. Like in Noah's time, Paul's time, and our time, the only salvation is in the ship of God.

The one who guards his mouth preserves his life; The one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. Proverbs 13:3

Ever heard the term, "Open mouth, insert foot"? If it was true, most of us would be hopping through life on one foot. Sometimes we think, I wish I had said that, but more often we think, I'm sorry I said that. Jesus said the things that come out of the mouth are the things in our heart. The best way to change our mouth, is to charge our heart with the Spirit of God dwelling in us. That is the best guard we can have.

I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see thegoodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Psalm 27:13

David spent a lot of time on the run from King Saul. He had been anointed to be the future king of Israel, but it seemed like a long time coming. The light at the end of his tunnel were the promises from God. He trusted that the day would come, and it sustained him in his troubled time. Every day is not going to be a wonderful happy day for most of us. The promises that God has given us for His blessing should lift us up and keep us from despair. Let's all believe that we will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. It will make today brighter too.

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these Galatians 5:19-21

The fact that these are deeds of the sinful nature is evident. They are always obvious when we see them in the lives of others. How come they are so hard to detect by us when we have them? Can we determine when we quit walking after the Spirit and start walking after the flesh?. Others can see it, but the devil doesn't want us to see it. We need to listen when we are warned of our drift into this style of life, and get back on the road led by His Spirit.

Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds. Revelation 2:22

One of the churches in Revelation was tolerating immorality. They were allowing the teaching of immorality to poison their spiritual lives. God had called for repentance, but they refused. Jesus said their bed of immorality would become their sick bed. Sick bed for the prophetess, and a sick bed for those who tolerated and participated in the false teaching. Sin bed to sick bed. Be sure our sins will find us out. Unless we repent, our sins will be exposed and our punishment will be sure. Let's listen to Jesus and repent.

Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you. II Peter 1:12

When we hear something that is important to us, and something we really need to know, we can't hear it too much. God often repeats things to us that are very important. It is a danger sign when we complain that the teaching is too repetitious. Too often that means we don't want to hear what God has for us. In the time of great persecution, Peter not only wanted to remind us of the important things, but also stir us up every chance he had. May we let God's word continually stir us up. We haven't overcome yet, and we need all the help we can get.

Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY," says the Lord. Romans 12:1

Revenge does not belong to us. When we take it, we are stealing from God. When we conspire to take it, we are robing devotion from God. It is not unusual to hear people in the world talking and taking revenge to get even. That we can expect, but it is a horrible experience to hear it from a Christian. May we make not provision for revenge in our minds. When we love as God loves, and walk after His Spirit, we will leave the wrath to the one who knows the hearts of men. That is God and not us.

How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered! How blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit! Ps 32:1-2

What does David, Paul, and all Christians have in common? It is forgiveness and the great sense of relief that comes with that forgiveness. David suffered with his sins, and it completely drained his vitality When he confessed his sins, God forgave him. Paul pronounced in Romans 4 that we don't need to suffer the same pain as others. We can be honest before God and man, and God will take away our sins and give us a life of joy. Many people try to hide their sins from God to make themselves feel better. It works just the opposite. The real feel good feeling comes from a right relationship with God. Transgressions forgiven, sins covered, and no condemnation from God. Are we there yet?

You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings, and brought you to Myself. Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; Exodus 19:4-5

God lifted Israel out of Egyptian bondage and gave them great and magnificent promises. If they would remember the miracles, and if they would obey His voice, God promised them a great nation with a great priesthood. They didn't remember, and they didn't keep them, and they lost their benefits. The heart of life is if. God has lifted Christians out of our bondage too. He gave us the same promises to be His holy nation and priesthood, if. we walk in the light of Jesus. May we remember HIs promises and His benefits. If we do, life will be the greatest. IF.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Ps 23:5

When the Lord is our shepherd, we will have no wants. Yes, He will provide for us in life and in death, and He provides us a great ministry too. Since we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus, we have the privilege to feast at His table. We can overcome our enemies because we are anointed to be saints, and priests in His kingdom. He blesses us with much more than we need, so His blessings overflow. Then we are able to help those we meet. That is our ministry. Where is the overflow of our blessings going? Into our pockets, or into the lives of others? The more we share, the more He will provide.

I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. Matt 16:18

Every heard this one? While folding your hands together saying, "Here's the church, here's the steeple, open the doors, there's the people" That may be a fun kid's song, but it does not represent the church Jesus established. The church is the people who have been called out of the world. The called out of Christ often meet in a building we call a church, but the church is the assembly of the redeemed in Christ. Each Christian is the temple of His Holy Spirit. Where ever any one Christians goes.....the church is there. Are we that person?

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does love, does not know God, for God is love. I John 4:7-8

I Corinthians 13 says, love is patient, kind, not jealous, doesn't brag, isn't arrogant, doesn't act unbecomingly, does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices in truth. Love bears, believes, hopes and endures all things. Love never fails. We know God is love, so you could replace the word love with God, and the text would still be accurate. When we are truly born of God and know God, we will have that God type love in us. Now we can put our name in the text where love appears. Love is patient, etc. God is patient, etc. I am patent, etc. If our name doesn't fit in that context, maybe we don't know God as we should.

For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. Galatians 5:17

Fortunately, for most every disease, there is some sort of vaccine or antidote. These are medicines designed to fight against disease. Without the medicine, often the body will die. Fortunately, God has developed a vaccine and antidote for the sins of the flesh. You can write down every sin in the world, and God has the remedy. The remedy is the blood of Jesus, and His Holy Spirit. His spirit sets itself against the desires of the sinful nature. Take His medication as prescribed for life and health.

Why did the king help him? Why did the king make arrangements and give Nehemiah his Master Card? Answer: The good hand of his God was on him. They rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem in 52 days. I heard a conversation the other day with some people who used to be very active in the church. Now they do not attend at all. They miss giving that stimulation and getting it. They said they missed it at first, but now they're used to it. Bingo. That is the way the devil and sin works in our lives. It seems bad at first, but now we are used to it. That is how the deceitfulness of sin works. We need to check all of our activities with His Word, not by how we feel. Let's check in with Him today.

David spent a lot of time in exile away from Jerusalem, and he wasn't able to be at the temple worshiping God. He really missed it. His soul was thirsting for God, like a deer pants for water ,and he was longing to be in worship again. He remembered how great it was to be in worship and rejoiced when he could get back. When we make our lives around worshiping the Lord, the loss of worship time will leave a big hole in our lives. Let's not fill that hole with something else. But as he was discussing righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix became frightened and said, "Go away for the present, and when I find time I will summon you." Acts 24:25

Need to talk to someone about their soul, and don't know where to start? When Paul had a chance, he knew what to say. He spoke of the righteousness that only comes through Jesus, about how we can live a life in control through the Holy Spirit, and that we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ to give an account of our lives. That testimony frightened Felix. When anyone does know God's righteousness, spirit, and aren't ready for the judgment, it is scary. Present it. If it doesn't frightened them into obedience, maybe it will frighten us into action.

Little children, guard yourselves from idols I John 5:21

When most of us hear the word, "idol", we think the images of the Old Testament. Carvings of wood and images of gold setting out the field where people went to worship. God condemned them because people went to them instead of giving their requests to Him. We don't plan to put any of them in our yard, so we don't worry about it that much. Do we have any idols? The last time we had a problem, what did we do to solve it? Whatever we did before we went to God, may have been our idol. Anything that comes before God, can be an idol for us. Let's put God first in everything. We will not be disappointed.

He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. Jn 10:12

Jesus is our good shepherd. He has commissioned faithful Christians to be protectors of the flock. Too often in our churches and families today we are wandering off. The devil is snatching our families and taking away our spiritual lives. In this world, when a child is snatched, an Amber Alert is issued. A serious crime has been committed and law enforcement is mobilized. We need to issue an Amber Alert for the souls that are being snatched and the church needs to be mobilized against the devil. We have been given a flock to shepherd. Let's get to it.

Jesus' disciples were so excited about being with Him, it was hard to contain their enthusiasm. However, Jesus still had much to accomplish before He would be glorified, and His disciples were still not quite ready to tell the whole story. Jesus told them to hold off a little while. Now that Jesus has paid our sin debt and risen, we have the whole story and it is time to tell everyone. Let's pray that we can catch the enthusiasm of those first disciples to the point that we can't help but tell what we have seen and heard about Jesus. Our direction is to go and make disciples. Therefore the sons of Israel cannot stand before their enemies; they turn their backs before their enemies, for they have become accursed. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy the things under the ban from your midst. Joshua 7:12

When the nation of Israel came to Jericho, they were instructed to take nothing from the city. The walls fell down because God's power was with them. Achan decided to take riches for himself, and that sin caused Israel to fail in their next battle. God told Joshua there was sin in the camp. When it was removed, Israel marched on. Sin in the camp stopped the movement of everyone in the camp. Tolerated sin in the church today stops the progress of the church. Let's not be the cause of stopping the Lord's work. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, I Peter 1:3

The Gaither's wrote, "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because he lives all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future, and live is worth a living, just because He lives." Christianity is the only path with a living hope because of Jesus. He died, was buried, and was resurrected by the power of God and ascended into heaven. He left us with that living hope for all mankind. When we die to sin, are buried with Him in baptism, we can rise to never die again. A living hope. Don't miss it. Let's tell everyone about our living hope.

And He said to me, 'Go! For I will send you far away to the Gentiles.'" They listened to him up to this statement, and then they raised their voices and said, "Away with such a fellow from the earth, for he should not be allowed to live!" Acts 22:21-22

When Paul's Jewish brothers heard him preach about his conversion and mission, they were fine until they heard his mission to the Gentiles. It is terrible to think that they would so filled with hatred, that they would want to kill anyone who wanted to lead a soul to Jesus. Where are we on this issue? Is there a limit in our thinking about who should have the opportunity to be a Christian? If we have that kind of hatred in our spirits, we are in need of grace in our spirit. The gospel is for all.

So when you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from you; Yes, even though you multiply prayers I will not listen Your hands are covered with blood. Isaiah 1:15

Is God obligated to honor our worship and answer our prayers? Could He be ignoring our worship, and requests? God continues to call us to repentance, and calls us to worship in spirit and in truth. When our goals in life are pleasing ourselves instead of pleasing God, our heavenly connection is broken. Here God told His people to bring their worthless sacrifices no more until they really meant it. We need to turn to Him and His word and find out how we should live. Do that and we will see our prayers and worship come alive. Do we really mean it?

And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12

What is our feeling about people trying to find salvation in another name besides Jesus Christ? Many of those people may be very religious. They may pray many times a day and do many good works. Their zeal for God may outshine us any day, but how much does all of that matter if we are on the wrong road? Could we find it in our hearts to have compassion on them, and gently lead them to Jesus? It is so much easier to call them stupid, write them off, and go enjoy ourselves. Paul said many have a zeal for God, but without knowledge. His hearts desire was to reach them with Jesus. What is our desire?

And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins....If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied. I Corinthians 15:17+19

Everything that pertains to life and godliness for this life and the life to come, is directly connected to the resurrection of Jesus. People are always trying to discredit and disprove the claims of Christ being alive. The truth of this good news cannot be compromised in any way. It should control everything we do in life. If today, we walked out our door, and God spoke to us telling us that the Jesus was not raised, would it change anything about our day? If that news didn't change our day and our thoughts, then perhaps we need to be pitied anyway.

Therefore, putting aside all malice and all guile and hypocrisy and envy and all slander, like newborn babies, I Peter 2:1-2

When Jesus saw Nathaniel coming to Him at the beginning of His ministry, He proclaimed that he was an Israelite with no guile. What a great compliment, to be proclaimed by Jesus as one without any deceit. This is certainly a wonderful quality that Jesus wants in all His followers. When we are born again of the water and the spirit, we are to become as newborn babes in Christ. To be an infant in Christ with a spirit without malice, guile, hypocrisy, envy, or slander. We are always going to be transparent to Jesus. It is great when we can be transparent before those in the world, and they can see that we are real disciples of Jesus. Then people could say of us when we come, Behold, a Christian in whom there is no guile or deceit.

Now King Solomon loved many foreign women along with the daughter of Pharaoh: Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women. from the nations concerning which the Lord had said, You shall not associate with them...for they will surely turn your heart away after their gods. I Kings 11:1-2

The phrase "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts", comes from a story about the Trojan Horse. The Greeks left a giant horse outside the city of Troy that looked like a gift. The horse was filled with soldiers and when it was brought into the city, Troy fell. Although it is a story, King Solomon experienced his own trojan horse. He married 700 wives and brought them into the his kingdom. Each one of them came in with riches that enhanced the power and glory of his kingdom. Hidden in the reception of these wives were their idols, which led Solomon away from God and destroyed his kingdom. We should beware of those "without God" bringing us gifts today as well. The gifts may have a hook in it. May we let God supply our gifts.

All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. I Corinthians 6:12

We can read the Bible cover to cover and find a life that is within the law, and still be miserable. We need to look deeper into God's will to find the things that are profitable for our spiritual influence. Further, many things may be lawful, but if we have a weakness that will destroy us. Let's make a list of the things we've done today that are really profitable for us. Also let's make a list of the things we've done that could master us. Too often, the list of profitable things will only fill a post-it note, while the list of damaging things would fill a room. The aroma of Christ is much more than just keeping the law. Let's look deeper.

Therefore, I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God. Acts 20:26-27

As the apostle Paul was leaving Asia, he assured them that he had held back nothing that profitable for them teaching the whole counsel of God without fear. We have a government agency called OSHA (Occupational Safety & Heath Administration) They inspect for anything and everything that could be harmful. They aren't doing anyone any favors by not pointing out and correcting problems. All Christians have been given a commission to preach the good news of Jesus. We should not be afraid to preach the whole counsel of God so that the lost may be led to salvation. We aren't doing anyone any favors by not preaching the truth. Let's be bold, so we too may say that we are innocent of the blood of all men.

Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. I Corinthians 15:50

We cannot keep this body for eternity. God has a new imperishable body prepared for our eternity. We were never meant to live in this world forever, so quit living that way. A Bible class of small children were asked what you had to do to go to heaven. After a long list of requirements were listed, a little boy in the back had one more for the list. He said, "You have to die!" Even if we are still alive at His coming, He has a change for us as well. Just like the nursery. We may not all sleep, but we will all be changed. Jesus passed through that veil first, and He is coming back to show us the way. Let's get ready.

But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. Romans 6:17-18

The Wizard of Oz was a story about people with no heart, no brain, and no courage, following a little girl with red shoes and a dog, up the yellow brick road to the wizard in the promised land. If we are really going to make it to the promised land in heaven, we need reality. We need a brain to learn the teaching of Christ, a heart to obey and change, and courage to stand firm during our life. When we commit our lives to Jesus, He will give us the mind, heart, and courage before we start the trip. Our rainbow of promises come from God. Let's keep walking after His Spirit

O magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together. Psalm 34:3

When we magnify anything, it is much easier for people to see it. In this world of idolatry, the need to magnify the Lord becomes more and more important. How do we magnify the Lord, and how to we lift Him up above the madness?. It is a joint effort. "Do it with me, and let's do it together", the Psalm says. When we bless the Lord at all times, when His praise is continually in our mouths, when our soul boasts in the Lord, the humble will hear it and rejoice. That righteousness that comes from God, will exalt the Lord and exalt our life in Him. Are we having trouble spreading the good news in our world? MAGNIFY, and let's do it together

Like snow in summer and like rain in harvest, So honor is not fitting for a fool. Proverbs 26:1

Want to wake up on a summer morning in a snow storm? Don't want it, and it just doesn't fit. Want to get in the field to harvest, but it won't stop raining? Don't want it, don't need it. Want to find honor for a fool? We cannot be honored by God when we are living the life of a fool, separated from Him. We are given a choice in life. We can choose a life of wisdom and receive God's honor, or choose foolishness and miss His honor. We are warned not to call anyone a fool, but when God calls us a fool, we really are one. And when God takes our honor, we really have lost it. It is fitting that all followers of Christ have God's honor.

Ill-gotten gains do not profit, But righteousness delivers from death. The LORD will not allow the righteous to hunger, But He will reject the craving of the wicked. Proverbs 10:2-3

When we cheat to live, are we saying to God that He is not enough for us? Will ill-gotten gain bless us, profit us, and keep us from death? God has provisions ready for us when we trust in Him. King David had many ups and downs. He dealt with the good and the bad. He wrote in Psalms 37, " I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, or his descendants begging bread". Trust in God. With Him is the only true profit.

After quieting the crowd, the town clerk said, "Men of Ephesus, what man is there after all who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is guardian of the temple of the great Artemis and of the image which fell down from heaven? So, since these are undeniable facts, you ought to keep calm and to do nothing rash. Acts 19:35-36

Every day we are bombarded with information that is false. Politician, preachers, and uninformed neighbors fill us with wrong information. These were the "so called facts" given to the crowd. All the information was completely wrong, and then called "undeniable facts". Artemis was not an image then fell from heaven. If so, she certainly wouldn't have needed protection from the city. When we are bombarded with so called facts, let's turn on our "lie detector". Search the scriptures to see if these things are so.

For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. Rom 12:3

Grace can do a wonderful work in our lives. It will save us from sin, it will keep us from the power of sin, it will equip us for every good work as a Christian. It also should humble us under the mighty hand of God. Here's where we need to be careful. When His grace is working in us we won't be exalting ourselves, we will give Him the glory We will allow God to equip us and lead us into our working place. This is the pattern Jesus left for us. When we boast and "blow smoke", it hides our gifts. Let's empty ourselves as Jesus did. Let's keep ourselves meek, and God will supply our power.

while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. II Corinthians 4:18

Everything in this world has an expiration date. There is a planned obsolescence in all we see. The vision that we receive from God is to look beyond the temporary to the eternal. The devil tries to change the expiration dates to confuse us. He wants us to believe that the things we have in this world will be here forever. At the same time, he confuses us about eternity. Let's look past the devil's trademark and focus on God. What God offers us will last forever.

See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled; Hebrews 12:15

When any of us comes short of the grace of God, we are ill equipped to walk on the road Jesus has for us. When we are short of the grace of God, it affects our salvation, our struggle with sin, our Christian work, and last but not least, our ability to forgive others. This can put us on a slippery slope ignoring discipline. When there is a shortage of grace in our spirit, bitterness can soon spring up. It has defiled many. Let's not let it get us, nor the ones we have been called to disciple. See to it.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, Ephesians 3:20

Lots of times we make up prayer lists. We ask for blessings for ourselves and for others. We may be praying for health, good jobs, positive emotions, good friends, or a closer walk with God. Often our wish list is a little bigger than we really believe is possible. We make the list, but doubt if we can really get that much. When we access the power of God in us, He can excess our lists, and our expectations. Let's go ahead and make our lists, and then expect a big plus at the end instead of a flop. Fully persuaded yet? Let's believe it, for He is able.

Behold, as for the proud one,His soul is not right within him; But the righteous will live by his faith. Habakkuk 2:4

This prophet argued with God about the truth of the future. He was proud of His self righteousness, and didn't think God knew what He was doing. That kind of pride is very destructive. Pride separates us from God, and from everyone who might be able to help us. At the same time, we know that our soul is not right within us. We are guilty and cannot admit it, and cannot reach out to God due to our separation. It is time to turn to God by faith. When our righteousness comes by faith, we will live. Let us put our trust in the Lord. He not only can tell us what is in our future, but He can also tell us what to do when it comes. "Trust in the Lord all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding". Proverbs 3:5

Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed, to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration to all men. Titus 3:1-2

We should never enter a study or a discussion with a referee's whistle, striped shirt, and a yellow flag. If we must demand authority, stop the discussion when we aren't agreed with, and throw a penalty flag when we disagree, we are in trouble. God wants us to be meek and gentle. To turn away anger with a gentle word and display the fruits of the spirit in all our dealings. Let us place ourselves in last place and allow the Lord and others to exalt us. When we are obedient, kind, peaceable, gentle, and show consideration to all men, God will give us the victory we desire.

Better is a dry morsel and quietness with it Than a house full of feasting with strife. Proverbs 17:1

Our meal will never be a great feast if we can't swallow and digest the food. When we eat at a table of strife, trying to eat our food just isn't worth it. Better a stale piece of toast along with a little peace and quiet. How often do we see people eating out with their spouses in silence? They don't speak, because they know that one word will start a fight. That is often the way to tell if people are married or single. What good is a meal that you have to gag on? When Christ is making a real difference in our lives, people should see us feasting with joy, not strife.

Though the fig tree should not blossom, And there be no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive should fail And the fields produce no food, Though the flock should be cut off from the fold And there be no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3:17-18

After this prophet debated with God about the difficult times to come, he finally yielded to God's Word. He acknowledged that although difficult times were inevitable, he would exult in the Lord and rejoice. He was going to trust God to help him rise above it all. When we see trouble on the horizon, do we trust or run? Ten years ago, we were facing Y2K. Remember the predictions that everything would stop in 2000? Would we have been faithful if everything stopped? When everything stops, that is when we need to be the most faithful. Let's trust in the Lord in good times and especially in bad times.

No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. II Corinthians 11:14

Do we wonder why people in the world have a difficult time receiving the true message of Jesus? The world is full of false teachers, and even the devil disguises himself to look like an angel of light. At the same time, those of us who ought to be spreading the true light, are often covered with the darkness of inconsistent lives. The devil's goal is to blind the eyes of the unbelieving so they cannot see the truth. We shouldn't help the devil in his quest to keep souls from the truth. When we aren't letting our light shine for God, we unwittingly become agents of the devil. Let's start living in the true light and spreading the true light.

We look at it, sniff at it, and taste it just a little bit. Lots of times, we find out that we really is good, and we are glad we tried it. The same is true with God and His Word. Many people assume they won't like it. When we are encouraged to taste His Word, we find out how blessed we can be partaking of Him. Let's try that Bible class we have been skipping. Inquiring as to why he would laugh, the man said, "I'm not from around here." We are not made to live on this earth forever, no matter where we're from. Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! Romans 11:33

Sometimes people will ask a preacher, "How deep is your preaching?" None of us can ever go deep enough to discover everything about God. It is a never ending journey into His wisdom and knowledge. The Greek word for depth is Bathos. Once there was a little submarine invented to go into the depths of the sea. It was called a Bathysphere. It allowed people to discover the depths of the ocean. Our Bathysphere is the Holy Spirit. With that life support, we can search the depths of God's riches. Don't dive without it.

And the jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, "The chief magistrates have sent to release you. Therefore come out now and go in peace." Acts 16:36

Did you ever notice? After the night of singing and praying in the prison, after the earthquake, after the doors of the jail fell off, after Paul and Silas taught and baptized the jailer and everyone else in his house, after the had enjoyed the fellowship together, Paul and Silas went back to jail. They were there the next day when the magistrates came to release them. Why did they go back? It was the right thing to do. Doing great things for God does not exempt us from meeting our responsibilities. Obeying God is not a "get out of jail free" card. Let commit to do the right thing always. God will take care of the rest.

Grace for your spirit And he, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; Acts 16:24-25

Is there anyplace you have to go that will just ruin your day? Maybe to the doctor, or shopping at the mall, or to your relatives, or even to work? Paul and Silas were arrested on a mission of God, and dumped into prison. It could have ruined their day, if they hadn't turned it into a ministry. Their songs and prayers affected the other prisoners, and God shook the foundations of that prison. Their release led to the conversion of many. On our next "have to" trip, let's turn it into a ministry for Jesus. Who knows the changes we can make in ourselves and those around us. Let the singing and praying begin.

In baseball, when the player in the game is not good enough to bat, they bring in a pinch hitter. We are the ones in the game who are striking out. We need a pinch hitter to fill our position for us. When you open a can of coffee, it appears to be full. You can pressed the coffee down, shake it together, and then there is room for lots more coffee in that can. This is God's formula and promise to give us back more than we can ever bring to Him. Pick your container and fill it up. God will fill the same container with twice as much in it. Giving is not just about obeying commands, meeting needs or threats, When we rob God, we rob ourselves and break the cycle of return. Bring the biggest container you can find. You will never be disappointed.

Grace for your spirit
The next Sabbath nearly the whole city assembled to hear the word of the Lord. But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were blaspheming. Acts 13:44-45

Paul and Barnabas caused quite a stir preaching the good news in the synagogue. The Jews were excited and begged them to return next week. They followed Paul urging him to continue in the grace of God. The news spread like wildfire, and the next week the place was packed. We would think the Jews would be excited, but it was just the opposite. They turned against Paul and turned against God. If it couldn't be all for them, they didn't want anyone to hear it. Could that attitude be present in our assembly? If our assembly was packed with neighborhood people next week, would we be excited or upset? Let's wake up. The gospel is for all.

Grace for your spirit
For thus says the LORD, 'When seventy years have been completed for Babylon, I will visit you and fulfill My good word to you, to bring you back to this place. 'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:10-11

Most of us think we know what is best for us. We want the best and easiest path, and we want it right away. Often the best for us involves a difficult journey with trials and tribulations. God's people thought their captivity in Babylon was all wrong for them, but God had a plan. Babylon was God's way to help them and get them back on track. Like the whale for Jonah, is was more of a new opportunity than punishment. Let's not fight the chastening of the Lord. He has plans for our welfare too. He wants to give us a future and a hope. Go with Him.

Grace for your spirit
Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Acts 17:11

Why should we study the Bible every day? We should have a curiosity about the things in the Bible and really want to know more about them. We should be preparing to teach people about God. The biggest and most important reason for daily study is, we really want to be living in God's will. None of us will ever be exempt from stumbling in the dark. We need His lamp at our feet and on our path. Bible study clears our mind, quiets our spirits, lights our way, and lets us center on what God wants us to do. Wouldn't it be great to be counted as noble-minded, and eager to see what God wants for us? Yes it would.

Teach me to do Your will,For You are my God; Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground. Psalm 143:10

Have you ever been in trouble and needed some directions? What we really want is plain, authoritative, energetic, directions. If we are in a burning building, we want someone who knows the way to safety. Our life is a burning building on the way to eternal destruction without the right guidance. Jesus has the guidance for us. He not only knows the way, He is the way. Following Him, we will always be in the middle of God's will. His spirit will always lead me to safe and level ground. Thank you Lord for the directions You have left for us all.

Grace for your spirit
For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:13

God has a special way to work in all of us to do His will. He gives us our gifts and send them with a instruction manual which is the Bible. We should never assume we know how He works in us, and what He has for us without learning the His will for us. My mom recently bought a new washer. She tossed the manual aside thinking she had ran a washer for years. This one was different, and she thought it was broken. The repair man came out and invited her to read the manual. God invites us to read His manual. It will uncover our gifts and the keys to putting them into action. Invite Him to work in us for His good pleasure.
