Grace for your spirit
If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arise among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes true, concering which he spoke to you saying, 'Let us go after other gods (whom you have not known) and let us serve them,' you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams; for the LORD your God is testing you to find out if you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronmy 13:1-3

We will never find unity in the God's Holy Word, if we change our direction every time a prophet or a dreamer tells us they have heard a new way from God. Those dreamers and so-called prophets will lead us down a path away from God's Word. The other gods don't have to be a wooden idol, because lust and greed are often much bigger gods in our lives. Sometime people like to hear a new revelation because it gives license to live in an ungodly manner. We need to reject that leading. Any teaching that comes our way need to be backed up by Scripture. Accept nothing less, even if we think it came from an angel.

Lord, I have heard the report about You and I fear. O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years, In the midst of the years make it known; In wrath remember mercy. Habakkuk 3:2

When the prophet Habakkuk first approached God about the coming attack by Babylon, he challenged God's judgment. Once he took a little time to listen and think about it, he knew that was not very smart. When his fear of God returned, he acknowledged God providence. Then he humbly asked God to make His will known, and in the coming wrath to not forget mercy. Good advice. We need to listen, give God His way in our lives, and pray for mercy in His anger. We won't get there unless we start listening with a heart of trust. Our future may not always be what we wanted, but with God in it, it will be all right.

He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Psalm 23:2-3

When we find ourselves stressed out and in deep trouble, how can we find some peace and victory? We live in a fast paced world of noise and stress. It is almost impossible to find a quiet moment. When we are stumbling on the path of life, what we may need is a little quiet water and green pastures. Let's find someone place quiet for a little bit to commune with our shepherd. Don't talk; listen. Like Elijah, a cool breeze with the encouragement from God will find us, and get us back on the paths of righteousness. He will provide.

But the natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. I Corinthians 2:14

When we walk according to the word of God, and make our life decisions based on His will, the world just doesn't get it. Our decisions are often misunderstood and sharply criticized as foolishness. Unless those critics can find their way into His word and His will, they will never understand. Jesus told us ahead of time, "they persecuted Me, and they will persecute you." Let's stay on course. Ultimately, God is our judge, not our critics.

Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a word spoken in the right circumstances. Proverbs 25:11

We all know that if we had a silver bowl full of solid gold apples, that we would have quite a treasure. In this extremely negative world we live in, a kind word at the right time can be a great treasure too. People are quick to criticize, complain, and blame. Too many spend their time being griped at, or griping at someone else. We have a golden opportunity to change someone's life today. Let's all think of a word that will edify and build up someone. Perhaps a genuine compliment or appreciation to lift someone's day. The sunshine we spread will get on us as well

So Moses issue a command, and a proclamation was circulated throughout the camp, saying, "Let no man or woman any longer perform work for the contribution of the sanctuary." Thus the people were restrained from bringing any more. Exodus 36:6

Have you ever been in church when is was announced that they had more workers and more resources that they could possibly use, and requested that everyone stop? It happened to Moses. The people had been challenged by the inspiration of God, and His mighty hand of judgment. After they had misused their resources to build a gold calf, after they had seen the death of destruction, they were motivated and mobilized to the max. What will take for us to mobilize? Let's pray that we can see God's power and move to obedience before the ax drops on us.

His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowedge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. II Peter 1:3-4

The promises of God are different from our promises. His promises come from His divine power and a divine purpose. They will always accomplish their purpose and that purpose will always help us and glorify Him. When we walk by His promises we can participate with His divine nature and escape the corruption in this world. He has the power and He gave the promises. Let's line up and enjoy the benefits. With the divine nature in us, our promises will take on the character of God. Let's go for it.

If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth. I Peter 1:17

As Christians we are redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus and transferred into the kingdom of God's dear son. As a member of His family, we address God as our Father. As His children, He calls us to holy living and obedience. With the knowledge given to us we should be aware that we will stand before Him some day to give an account of our life. With that in mind, let us all conduct ourselves with fear during our stay on earth. May that fear translate into holy living each day.

But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron. I Timothy 4:1-2

The Christian has many enemies in the world. The devil is constantly using his best efforts to destroy God's children. Some fall away from the faith because they pay attention to deceitful spirits, doctrines of demons, and liars whose consciences are so hardened they don't know the difference of right from wrong. Let's not let that be us. May we spend our time focusing on the truth from God. It will help us identify these attackers from the devil and defeat them. Let's work that plan and help others do it too. In this way we will guard against falling away. Let's be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share. I Timothy 6:18

There is a traditional battle that takes place between most parents and children. Parents want their kids to work and do chores, while the kids want to get out of doing work and chores. Parents know that work develops a sense of responsibility, builds character, and teaches them a value of a dollar. Kids often think their parents only want to use them as slaves and make them miserable. If the kids win this battle, everyone loses. We see the same battle brewing in the family of God. Church leaders encourage God's children to be active and work in the vineyard of the Lord. Leaders know that work not only shows character, but builds Christian character. Too many "pew packers" are rebellious against this direction. They feel work is not necessary and they will be fine as they are. If this attitude prevails, everyone loses. May we all strive to be rich in good works, doing good, and ready to share.

Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge; you yourselves did not enter, and you hindered those who were entering. Luke 11:52

Keys are a wonderful thing. They give us authority and access to our house, our cars, and our jobs. When we lose them, we find ourselves locked out. Jesus had the keys to life, death, the kingdom throne, heaven, and hell. He entrusted those keys to His children to open doors for others. The Pharisees, called lawyers of the law, fumbled with the keys and lost them. The keys to the kingdom were promised to His apostles and then passed on to all believers. We possess the keys to His kingdom. If we don't lose them, but use them, we can enter and help others get in too.

Grace for your spirit
But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?" Luke 23:40

This is part of the conversation between the two thieves on the cross beside Jesus. One of them was criticizing Jesus and the other was defending Him. The one criticizing certainly did not fear God. Fearing God is a combination of being afraid, respecting, and obeying in view of the coming circumstances. The perishing thief had none of these, and he would soon be dead. When we criticize God, it is obvious that there is no fear of God before our eyes too. Death is coming out way as well, and it is time to develop that fear in our lives before it is too late. Job's wife told him to "curse God and die". That is the worst advice anyone could give or get.

The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. Matthew 6:22-23

I wear a hard contact on one eye to help me read small print. For many months my ability to see has diminished. I figured my old age eyes were getting weak, and i resisted going to the eye doctor to hear the bad news. When I finally went, I found out that my cleaner wasn't working, and the contact was gradually getting covered with gunk. A thorough cleaning changed everything. I can see and my life is much more enjoyable. There is a spiritual lesson here. Our spiritual eyes sometimes become gradually covered with gunk. We don't like the way we see things, but we figure this is the new normal for us. We resist help, and suffer in silence. Let's not live on in darkness, when we can easily walk in the light. Let's share our darkness with God and those who can help. Life can be much brighter.

The conclusion, when all has been heard, is; fear God and keep His commandments, because applies to every person. Ecclesiastes 12:13

The journey through the book of Ecclesiastes can be as befuddling as the life of Solomon. When we see the wisdom of God intermingles with the experiences of mankind, it can be confusing. The experiences of a so-called Godly person compared to the holiness of God is sometimes hard to understand. At the end, Solomon and God come to this conclusion. After all the discussion, every person is to fear God and keep His commandments. Let's make it a priority to find His will and carry it out.

Abraham said, "Because I thought, surely there is no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife." Genesis 20:11

Abraham was a man of faith and a man who feared God, but not always completely. When he traveled into the kingdom of Abimelech, he made two big mistakes. He didn't trust in God, and he made the assumption that they didn't fear God either. Fearing for his life, he lied to Abimelech about his wife. His assumptions were wrong. Abimelech did fear God, and he was surprised and afraid at Abraham's deception. Abraham ended up looking awfully bad, and was ran out of the country. What about us? When we are out in the world, do we make the same faulty assumptions? They don't fear God, so why should I? When that is our path in the world, we will hardly be able to spread the light of Jesus.

You husbands, likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a women, and grant her honor as a fellow

Men, would you like a good Christian wife? Be a good Christian husband! God's word has the formula for success. If we look back at the previous six verses directed to wives, the word likewise places those qualities in husbands as well. Plus we need to live with our wives in an understanding way, granting her honor as a fellow heir in His kingdom. Don't want to be a better husband or honor our wives? We may be wasting our time praying for the unlikely. Also, the rest of the things we are praying for could be hindered as well. Prayer works, but we have things to do to make them work.

Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commander and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; Revelation 6:15

This picture of the opening of the sixth seal and terror of the coming of the Lord is scary. The question is asked, "Who is able to stand against this wrath?" In this world oftentimes, people who think they are big stuff, feel they will be able to stand against anything. Here the kings, great men, commanders, rich and strong are begging for mercy. The plead for the mountains and rocks to fall on them and hide them from the presence of Jesus. What is our life plan for the second coming of Jesus? If we have any plan other than surrendering to the Lord now, our future is in trouble. The promise of being in Christ is that we will escape the wrath of God. Let's not wait on the outside until it is too late.

A vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing and appealing to him, and saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us." When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. Acts 16:9-10

When Paul traveled on his missionary journeys, he had a good idea where he was going, but he was open to God having a better idea. Paul allowed the spirit of God to move him away from some places and open the door to others. Responding to this call from God to cross over into Macedonia, opened up a whole new ministry for Paul into Europe. As we walk the Christian life, are we open to our "Macedonia call"? While there are churches and lost souls in dire need to help, are we stuck in our preset path. Let's be attentive to the call of God as we study, pray, and meditate. Let's not just send light, let's take it.

There is no fear of God before their eyes. Romans 3:18

The apostle Paul is making a case for the need of salvation to all men. Even the people who felt they were godly, had completely missed the mark. There were none righteous, none who understood, none seeking for God, none doing good. and they were useless. Destruction and misery were in their paths because of their walk and talk. How had they come to this state of life? There was no fear of God before their eyes. They were not afraid and had no reverence. When there is no fear of God before our eyes, the path will be the same. Let's get off that path right now.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. I John 4:18

We are all called to fear God and keep His commandments. What does it mean to "fear God?" It is fear of punishment or a helpful reverence for His presence in our lives? Probably it is a combination of both. When we don't a right relationship with God, and we know we are going to fall into His judgment, it is time to be afraid. When we are walking after the spirit in the blood of Jesus, fearing God is a helpful reverence to continue to do His will. When we find that perfect love in Christ, our fear will be casted away along with the punishment. If we only live with the fear of punishment, we will not be perfected by love. Let's be in Christ and walking after the Spirit every day
