And Jesus said to them, "Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." Matthew 16:6
Leaven is a foreign substance that changes whatever it is combined with. With dough, the leavening is yeast that changes the lump into bread. In our world we have bad leaven and good leaven. When we are leavened with the influence of Christ, we will be improved. When we allow the bad influences to be mixed in our lives, it will bring about a very negative result. Jesus warns us who to avoid the things that hurt us. In His days, the Pharisees and the Sadducees represented toleration of sin and sidestepping the Law. In our days, it can be many things that keep us from Christ. Let's watch out for whatever keeps us from victory in Jesus.
